 This design features a Turkish heel, sometimes know as the "afterthought" heel which, as it's name suggests, is worked after the main part of the sock has been completed. This means that it can be replaced as needed if the heel wears out, or you could choose to work the heel in the main yarn together with a strengthening yarn to reinforce it.
The socks have a picot detail around the top which is achieved by working the first few rounds in a waste yarn then using a "draw thread" which is removed once the stitches have been picked up and knitted, closing the hem.
There are two sizes of sock and you will need 2 x 50g balls of 4 ply yarn.
