Debbie Abrahams Buttons

These little works of art are made by Debbie's parents.
The clay buttons are shaped and driedthen thoroughly, and then rubbed down to give a soft rounded edge.
Ceramic glazes are then carefully applied, overlapping several coats of up to six layers. The glaze-coated buttons are then carefully placed in the kiln and fired to a temperature of up to 1045°c. Each firing can take up to 8 hours or even overnight to complete.
Many of the designs use moulded textured effects, decorated with an exciting range of opaque and transparent glazes. All the buttons are fully washable and suitable for a wide range of knitting projects
