This is Shetland Marl, a Chunky weight yarn from Jamieson of Shetland. The wool is spun from sheep that are raised by the Jamieson family and it real, tradtional yarn.  It knits on US  #9-10needles at 15 stitches over 22 rows for a 4" square. 132 yards per 100g ball.
