Rowan shade cards are a must for the serious knitter. I am amazed at the number of people that buy yarn without ever having seen the color "in the flesh". Monitors vary a great deal and what may look correct on mine can look totally different on other peoples' screens. Also you can get to feel the yarn - important if you have sensitive skin.
