Rowan Magazine #51 follows the usual format of being divided into three sections. The first part is called Riviera and was inspired by the fashions of the late 1950's and early 60's. Stripes and retro patterning feature in the crochet tops, tees, jackets, shrugs and sweaters.
The second section is called Artisan and is inspired by the traditional textiles of Africa and the Middle East. These are casual knits and include multi color designs, float stitches, ladder and drop stitches. Macrame and crochet also contribute to the handmade look.
The third section is called Essentials and has selected designs from the other sections in a simpler form either by change of yarn or color.
Designers include Kaffe Fassett, Marie Wallin, Erika Knight, Sarah Hatton and Brandon Mably. Yarns used include Handknit Cotton, Kidsilk Haze,Siena, Panama, Cotton Glace, Fine Lace, Purelife Revive, Savannah, Pima Cotton, Denim and All Seasons Cotton.
There are the usual interviews and articles - something to interest everyone!
